Manchester United is preparing to compete with Liverpool for the signing of Antonee Robinson this summer.
The left-back has been a standout performer for Fulham this season and was previously on Manchester United’s radar in January, although no agreement was reached at that time.
Despite Fulham’s determination to retain Robinson, it seems the player is open to a transfer, even though he is content at his current club.
This development has reignited discussions regarding the full-back, with United facing significant competition in their efforts to attract him to Old Trafford.
According to Fichajes, “At Old Trafford, they are increasing their monitoring of a full-back whose contract runs until 2028.”
The report further notes, “This player is also on the radar of a Liverpool side that is currently performing exceptionally well in pursuit of the Premier League title. Robinson’s market value is expected to be no less than €50 million, indicating that both the Red Devils and the Merseyside club are aware of the financial commitment required for the defender. There appears to be little competition in this market.”
Robinson, primarily a left-back, has recently been utilized as a wing-back, which has caught the attention of United manager Ruben Amorim, according to various reports.
Amorim is undoubtedly seeking skilled wing-backs who can integrate effectively into his favored 3-4-3 formation.
Given Robinson’s performance statistics this season, he appears to be an excellent candidate.
In 28 Premier League appearances, Robinson has recorded an impressive 10 assists, highlighting his offensive capabilities.
Moreover, he is a diligent defender, averaging 2.5 tackles and 3.1 clearances per game, while also avoiding any errors that could lead to a shot or goal against his team. (Statistics sourced from Sofascore)
If Robinson’s valuation is indeed between £40 million and £50 million, as suggested by reports, it would be prudent for United to consider pursuing this potentially game-changing acquisition.
